Cochin shipyard limited has signed a contract of worth ₹1207 crores with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for Short Refit and Dry Docking (SRDD) of INS Vikramaditya, India’s flag-carrying aircraft carrier. The scope of this agreement would be placing a solid foothold for the company as an important player in India’s defense and maritime sectors, signed on 30 November 2024.

Refit would now really work and increase operational capabilities of the carrier while also stamping out Cochin Shipyard as an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) hub. This would impact over 50 MSMEs and create over 3,500 jobs for India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

This deal is expected to create a beneficial impact on the stock of Cochin Shipyard and spur additional investor confidence as the company pushes its footprint further into defense and shipbuilding.
