In November 2024, India’s coal industry achieved a noteworthy milestone with the production of 90.62 million tonnes of coal, a strong 7.20% growth over the 84.52 million tonnes produced the previous year.
Total coal production for the current fiscal year (through November) was 628.03 million tonnes, a 6.21% increase over the same period the previous year. Impressive gains were made by captive mines, which produced 17.13 million tonnes in November alone—a 37.69% rise.
Additionally, coal dispatches showed steady increase, increasing by 3.85% from November 2023 to 85.22 million tonnes.This expansion demonstrates India’s commitment to improving its energy supply and satisfying the rising demand.
