The benchmark index ended with a strong rally of 1.8%, closing at 79,943. Positivity was felt throughout the day with sectors having made a series of subdued performance during the prolonged phase.
The Nifty 50 ended at INR 24,188 up significantly as the key stocks rose substantially. It was, however, led by a rise of nearly 8% in Eicher Motors, followed by Bajaj Finserv that rose by over 7%. Gains of more than 6% were reported by Bajaj Finance while Maruti rose by 5%. The stocks which supported the rise include Shriram Finance, Titan, and M&M.
The Nifty Bank index went up by more than 1%, settling at 51,605. Punjab National Bank and IndusInd Bank were the leading giants that crossed a rally of more than 2%. Support came from Federal Bank, Kotak Bank, Axis Bank, and SBI, leading to the positive momentum seen in the banking sector.
Nifty Next 50 closed at INR 69,103 with a growth of over 1.25%. Chola Finance gained 7%, followed by Shree Cements, which grew over 4%. Tata Motors and Motherson added 4% and 3%, respectively. The other positive contributors of the day were Zomato, PNB, and REC Ltd, which together helped boost the index’s performance.
The BSE 200 index closed at INR 11,156, with a gain of 1.64%. Eicher Motors and Bajaj Finserv led the pack with more than 8% and 7% gains, respectively. Chola Finance and Bajaj Finance were up by 7% and 6%, respectively. Oil India, Ashok Leyland, and Maruti also contributed to the upward momentum of the index.
The markets experienced a good trend today with all major indices ending in the positive zone after quite some time. The Sensex is up over 1%, showing a turn in fortunes. Stocks in the Bajaj group, Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance, became significant positives to infuse confidence in investors.
