The Sensex closed at 78,699 today, marking a slight upward movement. The market saw modest growth, with some key stocks contributing to the gains.
Nifty 50 closed at ₹23,813 after the rise in stocks that include Dr. Reddy’s which went up over 2%, followed by IndusInd Bank in a similar fashion. M&M and Tata Motors along with Eicher Motors and Wipro were some of the gainers as the index turned positive.
Nifty Bank ended at 51,311 led by the gain of over 2% in IndusInd Bank. IDFC First Bank gained more than 1%. The other banking stocks like ICICI Bank, AU Bank, HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, and Axis Bank also contributed to the overall up-move in the space.
Nifty Next 50 closed at 68,557 as significant losers included Gail, which declined more than 2%, followed by BHEL, which too declined more than 2%. Other stocks that contributed to the downtrend were Siemens, PFC, NHPC, RECLTD, and Vedanta. The positives came from the form of DMart, which rose more than 1%, along with Zydus Life and Adani Green Energy.
The BSE 200 closed at 10,976. Other stocks that gave the significant contribution are JSW Infraa that rose over 4%, and Escorts that added more than 3%. AWL, IPCA Labs, OFSS and Dr. Reddy’s were some other stocks.
Overall, the market is seen slightly up on day, and some stocks and sectors did well. Nifty next 50 ended in a bearish manner; however, the overall trend was quite positive and was driven by strong gains in key sectors such as banking and pharmaceuticals.
