The Indian stock market witnessed a strong upward movement today. Nifty 50 ended at 23,851, gaining 1.7%, while Bank Nifty surged over 2%, and Sensex jumped 1.96%. It was a green day across the board, bringing cheer to investors ahead of the extended weekend.
NIFTY 50 PERFORMANCE:
Nifty 50 was led by strong gains in multiple sectors. Eternal topped the chart with a rise of 4.29%, followed by ICICI Bank which gained 3.71%. Bharti Airtel added 3.65%, while Sun Pharma and Bajaj Finserv moved up by 3.45% and 3.36% respectively. SBI climbed 3.33%, with Kotak Mahindra Bank, Reliance Industries, and SBI Life also ending the session on a strong note.

BANK NIFTY PERFORMANCE:
Banking stocks were in strong demand today. ICICI Bank rose by 3.71%, followed by SBI up 3.33% and Kotak Mahindra Bank gaining 3.05%. Axis Bank advanced 2.54%, while HDFC Bank also posted a healthy gain of 1.53%.
SENSEX PERFORMANCE:
Sensex mirrored the broader market rally. ICICI Bank added 3.68%, with Bharti Airtel up 3.63% and Sun Pharma gaining 3.50%. SBI, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Reliance Industries, and Axis Bank all ended in the green with gains above 2.5%.
Almost all major indices ended in the green, making it a positive day for Indian markets. However, Wipro Ltd stood out on the downside, slipping more than 4%. With Good Friday on April 18th and the weekend following, the markets will remain closed for three days. Investors are advised to stay calm and patient to observe how the market reacts on Monday.

Stock Market Closed Tomorrow for Good Friday
The stock market will remain closed tomorrow, April 19th, in observance of Good Friday. With the weekend holidays following, trading will resume on Monday, April 22nd.
