Enhanced Railway Operations and Regional Connectivity
The Duvvada-Rajahmundry & Samalkot-Kakinada Port section serves as a crucial link for industrial and port connectivity in Andhra Pradesh, facilitating movement of goods from the hinterland to Kakinada Port. The OHE upgradation will significantly enhance the section’s capacity to handle increased freight traffic while supporting passenger services with improved reliability and efficiency.
The 2X25kV system implementation will enable higher power availability for traction, supporting operation of longer and heavier freight trains essential for port connectivity and industrial transportation. This infrastructure enhancement contributes to India’s logistics efficiency and supports the government’s vision of increasing railways’ modal share in freight transportation.
