Union Bank of India has announced the appointment of Shri Asheesh Pandey as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective from 30th September 2025.
The appointment was made by the Central Government under the provisions of the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970.
Shri Pandey’s tenure is set for a period of three years from the date he assumes office, or until further orders, whichever comes first.
This key leadership change was formally reported to the BSE Ltd. and the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd.
A Seasoned Banker with Over 27 Years of Experience
Shri Asheesh Pandey brings a wealth of experience to his new role, with a distinguished career in banking spanning more than 27 years.
Before this appointment, he served as the Executive Director of Bank of Maharashtra and has previously held the position of Chief General Manager at Union Bank of India. His career began at the erstwhile Corporation Bank.
His expertise covers a wide range of banking functions, including:
- Credit and Credit Monitoring
- Treasury and Merchant Banking
- Foreign Transactions and Joint Ventures
- Marketing, Customer Relationships, and Banking Operations
A noted “Tech-Savvy banker,” Shri Pandey has been instrumental in driving digital transformation through innovation. He played a pivotal role in the harmonization, automation, and digitization processes during the successful amalgamation of e-Andhra Bank and e-Corporation Bank with Union Bank of India.
Shri Pandey is a Mechanical Engineer with a Post Graduate degree in Management, specialising in Finance & Marketing.
He is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore and a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.
His commitment to continuous learning is demonstrated by his completion of recent executive programmes in digital marketing from IIM, Rohtak, a Directors Development Program by Egon Zehnder in collaboration with Harvard Business Publishing, and leadership programmes conducted by IIM Bangalore and IDRBT, Hyderabad.
The bank has confirmed that Shri Pandey has no relationship with any existing directors and is not debarred by SEBI or any other authority from holding this office.
