Stock Market Today: Sensex Reclaims 75k, Nifty at 23,300 as UltraTech and Bajaj Finance Lead Gains

It was a sea of green on the stock market today as domestic benchmarks staged a powerful recovery, ending a period of volatility with a decisive rally.

The BSE Sensex surged by 1,205 points to reclaim the 75,000 level, closing at 75,273.45, while the Nifty 50 followed suit, gaining 1.72% to end the day at 23,306.45. The overall sentiment remained highly optimistic throughout the session, driven by broad-based buying that appeared to wipe out recent market jitters.

Analyzing the sector performance, the Nifty Consumer Durables index emerged as the undisputed frontrunner, jumping a massive 3.51%. This optimism filtered through to the banking and financial sectors as well; the Nifty PSU Bank index climbed 2.67%, while Nifty Financial Services rose by 2.26%.

The real estate and chemical sectors also witnessed high demand, with both Nifty Realty and Nifty Chemicals posting gains of over 2.6%.

Among the top gainers on the Sensex, UltraTech Cement led the pack with a 4.12% rise, signaling strong confidence in the construction space.

Financial heavyweights were not far behind, with Bajaj Finance jumping 3.82% and State Bank of India gaining 2.89%. Larsen & Toubro also stood out, rising 3.80%, while Titan and InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) provided significant heavy lifting to the indices, gaining 3.50% and 3.46% respectively.

On the flip side, the top losers list was relatively short, primarily concentrated in the technology and utility spaces.

Tech Mahindra was the biggest drag, sliding 1.66%, while Tata Consultancy Services dipped 0.86%, suggesting that investors remain somewhat cautious regarding the IT sector’s immediate growth prospects.

Power Grid and Bharat Electronics also finished the day in the red, resisting the broader market’s upward momentum.
