Godavari Biorefineries Receives ₹46.15 Crore Income Tax Demand, Plans Appeal

Godavari Biorefineries Limited (NSE: GODAVARIB, BSE: 544279) has disclosed receiving an income tax demand of ₹46.15 crore (including interest) from the Assessment Unit of the Income Tax Department under Section 143(3) read with Section 144B of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The demand pertains to the company’s income tax return filed for the financial year 2022-23.

The assessment order, dated March 24, 2025, includes certain additions and disallowances made by the Assessing Officer with respect to the returned income of the company.

Godavari Biorefineries has stated that it believes the demand is not maintainable and is in the process of filing an appeal, rectification application, and a stay order against the said demand. The company has assured stakeholders that there will be no immediate impact on its financials, operations, or other activities due to this development.
