The Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), one of the core components under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), is indeed redefining rural India with the help of its start-up non-farm entrepreneurship. So far, it has supported 3.13 lakh enterprises across 429 blocks in 31 States and Union Territories and provided ₹56,113.39 lakh in funding for SHG and family entrepreneurship development.
An interim review indicated significant achievements: 75% of enterprises are women-managed, accounting for 57% of total income in the households of the target beneficiaries. In addition, 96% of entrepreneurs reported that they save more, and 70% accessed loans easily through the CEF.
The drive is monitored at both the central and state level and has events like the SARAS Mela, which publicize success stories, expanding rural entrepreneurs’ market presence. SVEP promotes the government’s interest in economic development and women’s empowerment in the rural sector.
