Indian Markets on 11th Dec: Sensex Holds Steady Above 81,000 Despite Mixed Sectoral Showings

The sensex continued within the 81,000range, which indicated a stable market despite mixed trends across sectors. The sector-wise key indices presented a mixed movement: some sectors moved upward while others were seen falling.

The Nifty 50 closed in the green at 24,641, driven by strong performances in select stocks. Trent led the gainers with a rise of over 2.5%, Bajaj Finance and Britannia followed with gains in excess of 2%. Other contributors came from Shriram Finance, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Finserv and Nestle India, whose positive momentum helped sustain bullish sentiments for the day.

On the other hand, Nifty Bank closed at 53,391 with a slight fall. The key players like AU Small Finance Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and SBI were responsible for this fall, which reflected pressure in the banking sector.

Nifty Next 50 closed at 73,292, led by gains of over 5% in IRFC, with Vedanta and Havells India adding more than 2% in the stocks. Jio Financial, IRCTC, ICICI Prudential, and BHEL were also added, all with a gain of more than 2%, helping lift the index.

Meanwhile, the BSE 200 ended the day at 11,413 as buoyant performances in select stocks drove the index. IRFC was again the top performer in the list, with its stock rising by more than 5%. Tata Communications & Dalmia Bharat shares also increased by more than 3%. These stocks were major contributors to the upward movement of the index.

Overall, the finance sector continued on its upswing, and the market remained buoyed. However, Adani-related stocks continue to be in pressure mode, extending their slide over the last few sessions. Mixed performances notwithstanding, the market continued to be resilient and sustained the bull run.
