The CCPA issued notices to 17 direct selling companies for the violations of Consumer Protection (Direct Selling) Rules, 2021. Of those, 13 companies face scrutiny into allegations of unfair trade practice issues such as exorbitant join-up fees, earnings related to recruitment
which are described in a way similar to pyramids and without any refund policy.
Such companies are under the limelight like Vihaan Direct Selling Pvt. Ltd., Oriens Global Marketing Pvt. Ltd., Zenness Wellness Pvt. Ltd., Orgolife Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Oriflame India Pvt. Ltd., Juncture Marketing Pvt. Ltd., Wolte Marketing Pvt. Ltd., Preet Life Care Pvt. Ltd., Enroots Horizon Pvt. Ltd., Le biotorium network Pvt. Ltd., Meghdoot Marketing Pvt. Ltd., Suji Dhaaga Lifestyle Pvt. Ltd., Winmax Business Pvt. Ltd., Ayusratna Natural Herbal Pvt. Ltd., Bioton Lifecare Pvt. Ltd., Oklif India Pvt. Ltd.
The CCPA has underlined that direct selling companies need to be transparent, have adequate grievance redressal mechanisms, and avoid unsubstantiated claims. Consumers are advised to be vigilant, check the authenticity of sellers, and check return and refund policies before making any financial commitments.
The government is committed to the protection of consumer interests and the promotion of a fair marketplace by bringing violators to book.
