Indian equity markets closed the trading session on a high note today, with benchmark indices posting significant gains. The NIFTY 50 index climbed 0.68% to settle at 25,239.10, while the BSE SENSEX recorded a gain of 0.73%, ending the day at 82,380.69.
The positive sentiment was widespread, reflecting broad-based buying across several key sectors.
The rally was supported by the strong performance of several large-cap stocks. Among the top performers on the NIFTY 50, Kotak Bank stood out with a gain of 2.67%.
Other major contributors to the day’s advance included engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro and automaker Mahindra & Mahindra, which both saw their shares rise by over 2.3%. Eicher Motors also had a strong showing, with its stock price increasing by more than two per cent.
A look at the sectoral performance reveals that the NIFTY AUTO index was the day’s top performer, surging by 1.44%. The positive momentum was also evident in other areas, with the NIFTY REALTY index gaining more than one per cent.
The technology sector participated in the rally as well, with both the NIFTY IT and NIFTY MIDSMALL IT & TELECOM indices closing higher. The NIFTY MEDIA index also registered gains.
The bullish sentiment extended to the broader market, indicating that the rally was not limited to just the frontline stocks.
Nifty index Performance Today:
The NIFTY 100, NIFTY 200, and NIFTY 500 indices all ended the day with gains of over 0.6%. The NIFTY MIDCAP 50 also closed in positive territory.
Despite the overwhelmingly positive market, a few stocks did face selling pressure.
Shriram Finance and Asian Paints were among the handful of NIFTY 50 constituents that ended the session with modest losses of less than one per cent.
