RVNL Bags ₹1,201 Cr Contract for New Rail-cum-Road Bridge in Varanasi

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has announced a major win for its investors, securing a significant contract from Northern Railway for a large-scale infrastructure project in Varanasi.

The project, which involves the design and construction of a new Rail-cum-Road Bridge over the river Ganga, is valued at approximately ₹1,201.36 crore.

The contract focuses on the construction of Bridge No. 11, located 50 meters downstream of the existing old Malviya Bridge near Kashi Railway Station.

This multi-modal project is designed to enhance connectivity significantly, featuring:

  • Lower Deck: Four railway line tracks.
  • Upper Deck: A six-lane road.
  • Structure: An Open Web Steel Girder design consisting of 8 spans of 108.5m and 2 spans of 103.3m.

The scope of work is comprehensive, covering the sub-structure and super-structure of the bridge, railway and road approaches, Overhead Equipment (OHE) works, and general electrical works within the Lucknow Division of Northern Railway.

The total project cost is pegged at Rs. 12,01,35,69,000 (inclusive of all taxes). RVNL is executing this project through a Joint Venture (JV), maintaining a majority stake:

  • Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd.: 60% share.
  • GPT Infraprojects Ltd.: 40% share.

According to the regulatory filing dated February 18, 2026, the project is expected to be completed within a timeframe of 48 months.

The company confirmed that this contract falls within its normal course of business and does not involve any related party transactions or interest from the promoter group.
