Share Market Today: Nifty Holds 23,400, Titan and Media Stocks Surge Over 2%

It was a day of consolidation on the stock market today, as the primary indices struggled to find a clear direction, ending the session with narrow gains.

The Sensex and Nifty 50 both closed near their flatlines, reflecting a cautious mood among investors who seemed hesitant to make big bets despite the positive bias.

The Sensex edged up a mere 13.84 points to finish at 74,360.01, while the Nifty 50 managed to hold its ground at 23,416.55, gaining 10.95 points.

In terms of sector performance, the spotlight was firmly on Nifty Media and Nifty Consumer Durables, both of which surged over 2%, providing much-needed support to the broader market.

This momentum was mirrored in the individual stock list where Titan emerged as the top gainer on the Sensex, climbing 3.43%. Other notable performers included Eternal, which rose nearly 3%, and Itc, which gained 1.21%.

The banking sector also lent a helping hand; the Nifty Bank and BSE Bankex both finished in the green, supported by steady gains in State Bank of India and Icici Bank.

However, the gains were capped by weakness in heavyweights and the technology space. Infosys was among the top losers, sliding 1.76%, which dragged down the overall IT sentiment.

Other major laggards included Bajaj Finserv and UltraTech Cement, while Reliance and Hindustan Unilever saw minor corrections that kept the benchmark indices in check. Additionally, the Nifty Metal index faced selling pressure, ending the day as a primary laggard with a 0.73% decline.
