Tata Power Bags ₹521 Cr Transmission Project From REC Power

Tata Power has secured a Rs 521.07 crore order from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, to acquire Ryapte Power Transmission Limited, a project special purpose vehicle (SPV).

The order was announced in a BSE filing, citing the company’s receipt of a Letter of Intent. The project involves constructing approximately 250 km of transmission lines.

The project scope includes establishing two greenfield substations, one at Ryapte in Tumkur District and another at Doddathaggalli, near Hosakote.

The substations will have a capacity of 500 MVA and 400/220 kV. The transmission services will be provided for a period of 35 years from the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD).

The order adds to Tata Power’s growing portfolio of transmission projects. Earlier, the company had announced several initiatives to expand its presence in the power transmission sector. The contract was awarded through a competitive bidding process.

As part of the agreement, Tata Power will develop the project on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis. The company will be responsible for constructing, operating, and maintaining the transmission lines and substations. The order reinforces Tata Power’s position as a leading player in the power transmission sector.

This order strengthens Tata Power’s pipeline and boosts its order book, demonstrating the company’s capabilities in the power transmission sector.
