Bondada Engineering Charges Ahead with Mega 100 MWh Battery Order from NTPC REL

Bondada Engineering has secured a 100 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System order from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, according to a BSE filing. The project, to be developed at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat, marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey in the renewable energy sector. This order reflects NTPC REL’s confidence in Bondada’s engineering expertise and execution capabilities.

The project involves the development of a Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) technology, a next-generation energy storage solution that offers several advantages over conventional Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery systems.

While LFP batteries are largely dependent on imported cells and have an operational life of 12-15 years, VRFB technology offers a significantly longer service life of over 25 years, with high intrinsic safety and stable performance.

The Government of India has set an ambitious target of deploying approximately 236 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems by 2030, whereas the current installed capacity is only around 3.3 GWh. This highlights the immense growth opportunity in the Indian energy storage market, driven by the rapid expansion of renewable energy capacity and the increasing need for grid stability.

As part of the agreement, Delectrik Systems Pvt Ltd will serve as the technology partner for the project. This partnership will enable Bondada to leverage Delectrik’s expertise in energy storage technologies and further strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape.

The order adds to Bondada’s growing portfolio of renewable energy projects and reinforces its position as a leading player in the energy storage sector. This achievement demonstrates the company’s ability to adopt and execute energy storage projects involving advanced Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) technologies.
