BSE Sensex continued its rising streak, closing at a high of 79,476, with a positive gain of 0.88%. The steady and upward trend indicates a surge in investor confidence as nearly all the sectors are putting up a good show.
Banks also showed a spectacular rise of 1.94% as Nifty Bank closed above 52,200. Axis Bank emerged at the top of the gainers’ list, with its increase standing at 2.7%, followed by HDFC Bank, increasing by 2.3% and closing at 1,753, followed by IndusInd Bank, whose 2.2% addition helped in supporting the rally. The names of banks aside from the listed ones included SBI, Bank of Baroda, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Canara Bank, who helped Nifty Bank.
Nifty 50 ended at 24,213 , almost nearing 25,000. Growth was driven by Metals; the biggest gainer there was JSW Steel, up 4.5%, followed by Tata Steel at 3.7% and Hindalco at 3.5%. Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, Grasim Industries, and HDFC Bank were other big winners who lifted the performance of Nifty 50.
Well, the BSE 200 index also was up with a close at 11,119 with the rise of 0.74%. The biggest gainer here was Gland Pharma which jumped to the level of 13.8%. After that, there were oil India at +5.1%, followed by JSW Steel, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, SAIL, Oberoi Realty, and Tata Steel.
The market appears well equipped to carry the momentum into next week as it looks to hit several key milestones in these metal and banking indices. Investors eagerly wait for its continuation of gains in these sectors throughout next week.
