ACME Solar Commissions 142 MW Battery Storage Plant in Rajasthan to Unlock New Revenue

ACME Solar Holdings Limited ACME Solar Holdings Limited has reached a significant operational milestone with the successful commissioning of its 142.67 MW / 481.49 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rajasthan.

This development marks the completion of Phase 1 for specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) that have a total planned BESS capacity of 585 MW / 2,011.24 MWh.

The newly commissioned BESS is connected to the existing operational Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). In the short term, ACME Solar intends to operate these systems on a merchant basis, allowing the company to generate a new revenue stream by capitalizing on the price differential between peak and non-peak demand hours.

By charging the batteries when demand—and prices—are low and discharging them during peak periods, the system not only optimizes power utilization but also plays a critical role in enhancing grid reliability and stability.

Looking ahead, these storage assets will be integrated into Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects, which will then operate under Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for a duration of 25 years.

This commissioning is just the beginning of ACME Solar’s ambitious storage roadmap. The company’s current portfolio necessitates the installation of approximately 17 GWh of BESS across multiple states and phases.

ACME Solar continues to solidify its position as a leading integrated renewable energy player with a diversified portfolio totaling 8,071 MW. This portfolio spans across:

  • Solar, wind, and hybrid solutions.
  • Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE).
  • Advanced energy storage systems.

As of today, the company boasts an operational contracted capacity of 2,966 MW and a robust under-construction contracted capacity of 5,105 MW.

With its in-house Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) divisions, ACME Solar remains focused on delivering projects in a cost-effective and timely manner.

The company’s move into large-scale battery storage highlights its commitment to “Leading Through Innovation” while ensuring industry-leading operating margins and performance.
