The Sensex stayed above the level of 81,000 but was stable without showing marked momentum on Monday.
The Nifty 50 closed at 24,610, up marginally from the previous close. Notable gainers included Shriram Finance, where more than 2% was added in the day, and Bajaj Finance, which picked up over 1.6%. IT stocks like HCL Tech and Wipro also contributed to the uptrend, both of which posted gains of more than 1.4%. The finance space was the top-performing category, driving the index upward.
Nifty Bank gained modestly to close at 53,577. The gainers in this index were led by PNB and AU Small Finance Bank, which gained more than 1%. Other major gainers included SBI, IDFC First Bank, and Kotak Bank, which helped sustain the positive movement in the banking space.
Nifty Next 50 closed at 73,095 with a mix of gainers and losers. Cholamandalam Finance was the most notable gainer with a rise of over 4%, followed by Jindal Steel with more than 3%. LTIMindtree, PNB, and Lodha also did well and supported the index. The Adani stocks were, however, under pressure, with LIC Housing Finance falling by more than 3.9%, Adani Green Energy by more than 3%, and Adani Energy Solutions by more than 3%. However, other stocks balanced the index.
The BSE 200 ended at 11,397, with a slight increase. The gains were led by Cholamandalam Finance, which rose by over 4%, and Nykaa, which increased by more than 3%. Jindal Steel, LTIMindtree, Shriram Finance, and Mphasis also contributed to the gains, with each stock recording an uptick of over 2%.
Generally, the finance sector shine bright today whereas Adani stocks are seeing a significant fall. Despite mixed performances across indices, the market appears to be relatively static.
