JSW Steel, the flagship business of the US$ 23 billion JSW Group, has announced its consolidated crude steel production for January 2026, reaching 24.75 lakh tonnes.
While this represents a marginal 2% year-on-year decline from the 25.18 lakh tonnes produced in January 2025, the figures reflect a period of significant strategic reinvestment and capacity upgrading across the company’s global portfolio.
In India, the company’s operations remained steady, reporting production of 24.58 lakh tonnes, which was marginally higher than the previous year’s figures when excluding trial runs.
This performance is particularly noteworthy as Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at the Vijayanagar facility—the largest single-location steel plant in India—has been offline for a capacity upgrade since September 2025.
With the furnace expected to be commissioned by the end of Q4 FY26, domestic capacity utilisation stood at a robust 93% (excluding the BF3 capacity).
The company’s USA Ohio operations saw a 74% year-on-year dip, producing 0.17 lakh tonnes. This decrease was attributed to a scheduled outage for essential caster upgrades that concluded on 11 January 2026.
Despite these temporary operational pauses, JSW Steel remains on an aggressive growth trajectory.
The company currently operates with a consolidated capacity of 35.7 MTPA and is executing a roadmap to reach 48.9 MTPA within the next four years.
Furthermore, the firm continues to integrate sustainability into its core, aiming for a 42% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 and moving toward total carbon neutrality by 2050.
