Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (AHEL) has announced a significant expansion of its healthcare footprint in Southern India.
Through its subsidiary, Imperial Hospital and Research Centre Limited—in which AHEL holds a 90% equity stake—the company has successfully completed the acquisition of Belenus Champion Hospitals Private Limited.
The deal involved the acquisition of 6,48,468 equity shares from existing shareholders at a price of Rs. 136.14 per share, totaling Rs. 88.28 million for the equity portion.
However, the total cost of acquisition, which includes the settlement of liabilities and equity value, stands at Rs. 1,650 million. Following this transaction, Belenus has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Imperial Hospital and a step-down subsidiary of Apollo Hospitals.
Belenus Champion Hospital, located on Marathahalli Road in Bangalore, currently operates as a 125-bed facility.
The hospital has shown a steady presence in the region, reporting a turnover of Rs. 274.90 million for the financial year ended March 31, 2025.
This acquisition is not just about a change in ownership but a major scale-up. Apollo plans to upgrade and expand the facility into a 175-bed fully upgraded multi-speciality hospital.
This ambitious expansion is set to be completed with a total investment of Rs. 3,000 million (inclusive of the initial acquisition cost) and is slated for a grand reopening by Q1 FY27.
The primary objective of this investment is to expand hospital operations and strengthen Apollo’s healthcare presence in the competitive Bangalore market.
The acquisition was completed as a cash consideration and does not fall within the ambit of related party transactions.
With this move, Apollo Hospitals continues to demonstrate its aggressive growth strategy, turning existing facilities into high-capacity, multi-speciality hubs to meet the rising demand for quality healthcare.
