Energy and Silver Futures Power Strong Rally in commodity market; Base metals Shine

The commodity market demonstrated decidedly bullish momentum, with the MCX iCOMDEX Composite index surging by 1.18%, indicating broad strength across segments.

This robust performance was largely driven by remarkable gains in the energy and silver sectors, suggesting strong investor conviction potentially influenced by tightening supply dynamics and favourable international markets.

The energy prices segment provided the most dramatic movement, with the MCX iCOMDEX Energy index jumping 1.75%. The exceptional gainer was Natural Gas Mini, which exploded by 8.58%.

However, in a nuanced trading session, the main Natural Gas contract finished slightly in the negative territory, pulling back by 0.45%. Meanwhile, Crude Oil futures saw only a marginal dip of 0.07%.

Precious metals were led higher by the spectacular rally in silver rate. Silver was a star performer, registering a significant gain of 2.79%, while Silver Mini futures followed closely with a 2.62% jump. This strong buying interest pushed the MCX iCOMDEX Silver index up by 2.79%.

In contrast, the safe-haven appeal for gold price was subdued, with Gold Ten registering a minimal loss of 0.03%, and Gold Guinea managing a modest gain of 0.19%.

The base metals complex also contributed significantly to the bullish mood, with the MCX iCOMDEX Base Metal index climbing 1.02%. Strength in industrial demand was highlighted by Copper futures, which added 1.84%.

Other base metals also trended higher, with Zinc Mini posting a gain of 0.65%, while Nickel saw its value rise by 0.50%. Aluminium futures also registered modest gains, reflecting overall sector confidence.

Analysts are viewing the broad-based strength in base metals and energy prices as a strong indicator of resilient global demand, suggesting that supply-side constraints or increased global liquidity are driving this positive sentiment in international markets.

This strong session signals that commodities, particularly those tied to industrial output, may continue to attract investor attention, potentially positioning the market for continued in the near term.
