RailTel Corporation of India Ltd., a prominent Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has announced a significant breakthrough in the digital infrastructure sector.
In a regulatory filing dated 20 February 2026, the company revealed it has secured a major Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Inspector General of Registration (IGR), Government of Maharashtra.
The contract was awarded to a consortium led by RailTel in partnership with M/s Ashoka Buildcon Ltd.
The project designates the consortium as the Managed Service Provider (MSP) responsible for the modernization of offices belonging to the IGR and the Controller of Stamps across Maharashtra.
While the exact consideration value was not explicitly stated in the LoI, RailTel provided a detailed estimate of the project’s financial scale.
The accepted rate for the project is ₹24.75 per scanned single-side page of registered documents.
Based on historical data from the Request for Proposal (RFP), which indicates an average of 9.18 crore pages scanned annually over the last five years, the total expected financial impact is estimated to be approximately ₹1,136.18 Crores over the five-year contract period.
However, the company noted that actual figures might vary depending on the volume of work executed.
This domestic contract marks a major step forward for RailTel’s portfolio in government digital transformation.
The project timeline is set for a long-term engagement, with the execution period expected to extend until 19 March 2032.
The company confirmed that neither the promoters nor any group companies have any interest in the entity awarding the contract, ensuring the deal was conducted at arm’s length.
