In a significant move to bolster its international presence, RITES Limited, a leading Navratna Public Sector Enterprise, has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Republic of Botswana.
The agreement, signed on 19 December 2025, marks a pivotal collaboration aimed at the comprehensive modernisation of Botswana’s railway and transport networks.
The partnership focuses on deploying advanced technologies and global best practices to enhance the efficiency, safety, and reliability of Botswana’s transport sector.
Under the terms of the MoU, RITES will provide extensive technical expertise, ranging from the supply of rolling stock and the modernisation of workshops to the operation and maintenance of railway systems.
Beyond rail, the collaboration extends to broader infrastructure development, including highways, bridges, airports, and buildings.
RITES is also set to implement advanced IT solutions, such as integrated train operations and passenger management systems, while providing essential capacity-building and technical training to strengthen local capabilities.
The exchange ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Mr. Noah Salakae, Botswana’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, and H.E. Bharath Kumar Kuthati, the High Commissioner of India to Botswana.
With 50 years of experience and a track record in over 55 countries, this latest venture underscores RITES’ commitment to “Transforming to GREEN” and its role as a premier transport consultancy on the global stage.
