Today, the Sensex ended a robust six-day run, plunging 694 points as Indian stocks closed down overall due to profit booking and a lackluster global outlook. Both benchmark indexes, the Sensex and the Nifty 50, had huge drops during the market’s substantial slump.

The Nifty 50 fell 213 points to 24,870.10 as the Sensex fell 694 points to end at 81,306.85. This slide saw the Nifty 50 breach key support levels, indicating a shift in market momentum.

Losses were observed across various sectors, with prominent names like Asian Paints, Grasim, Adani Enterprises, and UltraTech Cement leading the decline. In contrast, a few stocks such as M&M and Maruti Suzuki managed to post modest gains.

The Nifty 50 index saw no notable gainers, with the top five losers contributing significantly to the overall decline. These companies span diverse industries, from cement and paints to trading and automobiles, reflecting the broad-based nature of today’s market correction.

Grasim Industries Limited: This company, primarily engaged in Cement & Cement Products, saw its share price decline by ₹73.40, a -2.55% fall, to a quote value high of ₹2,807.80.

Asian Paints Limited : A leader in the Paints industry, Asian Paints experienced a drop of ₹61.60, or -2.40%, closing with a quote value high of ₹2,505.00. The company’s shares had a traded volume of 5.24 Lakhs and a traded value of ₹131.95 Crore.

Adani Enterprises Limited : Operating in Trading – Minerals, Adani Enterprises shares fell by ₹54.20, equivalent to -2.28%, reaching a quote value high of ₹2,323.00. The stock registered a traded volume of 5.84 Lakhs and a traded value of ₹136.60 Crore.

UltraTech Cement Limited : Another significant player in the Cement & Cement Products sector, UltraTech Cement witnessed a decline of ₹265.00, a -2.06% fall, to a quote value high of ₹12,605.00.

Hero MotoCorp Limited : In the 2/3 Wheelers industry, Hero MotoCorp shares dropped by ₹104.80, a -2.06% decrease, reaching a quote value high of ₹4,992.30. The stock saw a traded volume of 13.57 Lakhs and a traded value of ₹680.88 Crore. Its Total Market Cap was ₹99,879.88 Crore, and its Adjusted P/E was 22.53.

Bank Nifty: No Gainers as Financials Also Face Pressure

Financial stocks, particularly from both private and public sectors, recorded losses as investors pared back their positions.
