The stock market today concluded on a positive note, with key benchmark indices posting gains and reflecting a generally optimistic sentiment among investors.
The NIFTY 50 index rose by 0.37% to finish at 25,423.60, while the BSE SENSEX climbed 0.39% to close at 83,013.96.
Several individual stocks were at the forefront of the day’s rally. Eternal was among the top gainers, with its shares surging by 2.92%.
HDFCLIFE also had a strong session, registering a gain of 2.22%, while the pharmaceutical major SUNPHARMA saw its stock price increase by 1.75% by the end of trading.
However, the positive momentum was not universal, as some prominent companies faced selling pressure. COALINDIA was one of the notable losers, with its shares declining by 1.69%. BAJFINANCE also experienced a downturn, falling 1.33%, and TRENT ended the day with a loss of 0.93%.
A look at the sectoral performance reveals a divided but largely positive landscape. The NIFTY PHARMA index was the standout performer of the day, rallying by a significant 1.50%. The technology sector also demonstrated strength, with the NIFTY IT index advancing by 0.83%.
Other sectors that finished in the green included NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES, NIFTY AUTO, and NIFTY METAL.
On the other hand, a couple of sectors bucked the upward trend. The NIFTY MEDIA index was the primary sectoral loser, dipping by 0.30%. The NIFTY PSU BANK index also faced a slight setback, closing with a minor loss of 0.16%.
The positive sentiment extended to the broader market, indicating widespread buying interest. Indices such as the NIFTY 100, NIFTY 200, NIFTY 500, and NIFTY MIDCAP 50 all concluded the session with gains.
This suggests that the market’s strength was not confined to just the largest companies but was felt across various segments of the market.
